Or a New Yorker on a morning rush hour. Rude and abrasive - those are the two words that come to mind. However, the situation called for a character change this morning because people can be so inconsiderate sometimes. I usually am able to stretch my patience, but today was different.
When you're commuting to work, and especially that the buses are running on time (most of the time, anyway), every second counts. This morning I was running up the escalator in skirt and heels to catch my train. I made it to the door in the nick of time, or just as when it was getting ready to close. (I tell you, they don't play with those doors. I have seen people get squeezed in between.) But lo and behold, right in front of me was this couple who not only were busy running their mouths, but moving like they were taking a leisurely promenade down the park on a sunny afternoon.
Instead of stepping aside, as they obviously had no plans of sitting down, they decided to stand in the middle of the aisle, still yammering. WTF? Of course, right behind them was Ms. Me(an), who was trying to find a seat on her 40-minute commute. They were jeopardizing my chances of taking a quick nap. Ticked off, I blurted out, "Geez! Move out of the way!" But what I really meant to say was, "Move your freaking butts out of the way!"
The girl glared at me for a moment and stepped aside. I glared at her as if to say, "What?" Plus some words that will not see print. :-) I know, I know, I should have said "please" for the sake of world peace. But darn it, they knew people were lining up behind them. According to my calculation, they were the bigger jerkoff. I do feel a little bad for throwing my manners out of the window, although I know I would have been more mad at myself had I not said anything, or ended up standing for 40 minutes on high heels.
