Sunburned but still here

April...May...June...July... What? It's only been a few months. Okay, so I took a prolonged (I can't say unintentional) sabbatical from blogging. Which I shall leave unexplained. So how's everyone doing? My apologies to those who dropped by and whose messages on my Cbox were left unanswered. I have not been a very good blog host lately but I would like these people to know I am grateful that they take the time to check out the site every now and then. Salamat!

Everyone in the family is doing good. Re'Sean is in football camp, Kevin is still clocking insane hours at his job and I am still working for the same magazine. We're trying to make the best out of summer, primarily by keeping our weekends work-free so we can enjoy the outdoors. Or at least being outside of the house. I have a solid group of friends that I'm really thankful for. So since my last post, there had been a series of parties, a festival, news of a pregnancy, a baby shower and a delivery. At least four people in our circle will be celebrating their birthdays in the next couple of months and I think that will finally kick off the picnic season for us.

The husband recently turned a year older. The biggest obstacle to throwing a surprise party for Kevin was Kevin himself. I don't know what he ate that day but I've never heard him bitch and moan that much since I've known him. After about an hour of prodding and begging, Re'Sean and I finally succeeded in getting him off his chair, away from his computer and into a sports bar/restaurant where his friends and boss had been patiently waiting. Of course he was thoroughly surprised - and apologetic for being a royal pain in the ass. Did I mention that Re'Sean and I had to go all the way to Rockville, Maryland to get Kevin's cake? After dinner, we left Kevin to hang out with his male friends.

Kevin's birthday cake, baked and designed by my talented friend Elisa at the 11th hour.

I will be turning a year older, too, next month. Man, I am getting old. There's no stopping it. Haha! I would like my birthday to be a blast being as the numbers are aligned perfectly this year: 08-08-2008. No, I don't mean party like a rock star (although that would be nice, too), but I would like this birthday to be a little memorable. I haven't drawn up my wishlist yet. However, when it comes down to it, I am a very happy and content person, surrounded by wonderful family and friends.

Tonight, I will leave you with this picture of Re'Sean, who is mastering the art of smiling. Cheers!
