Nikki Johnson's Poetry
My Crutch by Nikki Johnson
My crutch
Was there when I needed help
Though, with it, the path was not straight
My crutch
Was there when I wanted a break
However, it usually kept me up pretty late
My crutch
Was there when I desired to escape reality
Though my mind was confused with coincidence and fate
My crutch
Was there when I could use a friend
It never talked back, it was great.
My crutch
Was there to make it all better
However just gave reason for all to berate
It was me my crutch was supposed to help get better
Yet led me down a path or heart ache and I became a debtor
So one day I left my crutch and days grew brighter
I learned a valuable lesson
That if the crutch does not help heal
Let it go!
