Week 1 Wrap Up

Ok, I picked wrong... Carolina's number one defense let Farve, Green and the Packers hand it to them. The much hyped Carolina defence didn't look like much of anything last night. I was hoping that things would turn out to at least a game. I still enjoyed watching it, though. Here's Week 2 Schedule and my picks will be in bold sometime next week. I will have my picks solid by Friday. I am still trying to decide the Eagles and Vikings game...

Sunday, Sep. 19
Carolina at Kansas City, 1:00 pm
Chicago at Green Bay, 1:00 pm
Denver at Jacksonville, 1:00 pm
Houston at Detroit, 1:00 pm
Indianapolis at Tennessee, 1:00 pm
Pittsburgh at Baltimore, 1:00 pm
San Francisco at New Orleans, 1:00 pm
St. Louis at Atlanta, 1:00 pm
Washington at N.Y. Giants, 1:00 pm
Seattle at Tampa Bay, 4:05 pm
Buffalo at Oakland, 4:15 pm
Cleveland at Dallas, 4:15 pm
New England at Arizona, 4:15 pm
N.Y. Jets at San Diego, 4:15 pm
Miami at Cincinnati, 8:30 pm

Monday, Sep. 20
Minnesota at Philadelphia, 9:00 pm

Well, those are my picks for the week. I am sticking with them. My sleeper game of the week is San Francisco over New Orleans. We will see how this week goes.

NFL Week 1

Week1 Review

Finally, Christmas time is here! My present: The NFL. All I am waiting for is the next things on my list... The NBA and Dallas winning the Super Bowl. I know, I know you can't have everything you wish for, but it would be nice!

New England 27, Indianapolis 24 - What away to start the season! This was a fun game to watch.

Ravens 3, Browns 20 - Surprising!!! Browns picked up the win. Sanders did exactly what I thought he would, nothing. (Not surprising!)

Redskins 16, Bucaneers 10 - I expected a lot more from this game, I found it to be BORING as well. I know I don't really like the Skins, but this is not why I found the game boring, I had picked them over the Bucs anyway. But, I expect Gibbs to coach a winning football club. The Redskins do present an interesting twist to the NFC, a little spice, if you will.

Eagles 31, Giants 17 - This was an easy game to call. Yeah, T.O. got himself 3TDs and McNabb put up silly numbers, but they played the Giants. Need I say more? I have to give it to the Giants, they looked better than I thought they would. The game was more fun to watch than the first two games... I hope the Chiefs v. Broncos turns out to be better. The rivalry between those two teams promises to be good. Vermeil has made the Chiefs better every year. The Broncos now have Champ Bailey (for Clinton Portis). As much as I don't like the Broncos, I have always respected them. They normally put together a decent squad... But KC has some beasts in my opinion... Priest Holmes (over 1400yds, 27TDs), Trent Green (92.6 QB rating, over 4000yds, 24TDs) Tony Gonzalez (over 900yds, 10TDs) and on defense Jerome Woods, when he tackles you, you know it! I am still going with Denver to pick up the win. Denver has always been a team that uses more of method style coaching. I like that. I think that is why they always have good solid players. So, it almost doesn't matter that they gave up Portis... They picked up Bailey and a second round pick - They will get someone else to jump right in line...

One of the most interesting performance was Jerome Bettis. Check his stats for this week: 5 carries, 1 yard, 3TDs!! I can't remember seeing anything like that before...

Here's the rest of the scores:

Thursday, Sep. 9
New England 27, Indianapolis 24

Saturday, Sep. 11
Tennessee 17, Miami 7

Sunday, Sep. 12
St. Louis 17, Arizona 10
Cleveland 20, Baltimore 3
N.Y. Jets 31, Cincinnati 24
Detroit 20, Chicago 16
Jacksonville 13, Buffalo 10
Pittsburgh 24, Oakland 21
San Diego 27, Houston 20
Seattle 21, New Orleans 7
Washington 16, Tampa Bay 10
Atlanta 21, San Francisco 19
Minnesota 35, Dallas 17
Philadelphia 31, N.Y. Giants 17
Kansas City 24 at Denver 34

Monday, Sep. 13
Green Bay 24 at ,Carolina 14

Take care!

Conversations and Connections

Why oh why is it so hard for people find it so difficult to talk about - anything? I have been engaged in some of the best conversations as of late. One thing I found odd is that these conversations make me feel ok. No, actually, good. I don't feel as though I have wasted my time. What? Don't act like you have never left a conversation with someone and wondered, "What was that?" or when you see some people coming you start trying to figure out how to avoid a conversation with them. Is conversation a lost art? Is the ability to communicate thoughts and ideas to another person that difficult that we most resort to negative forms of communication? I feel through communication connections are made with others. I am going to start evaluating those connections I make. Are they positive? Are they worthwhile? This isn't about connecting with people you like, I am talking about communicating with people even if you don't like them or at least necessarily agree with them. You know the grocery store clerk, the drive-up window at your favorite fast food place. I am not saying that you have to engage in deep conversation with everyone you encounter. But for the people that we do converse with, maybe we should try to make it a little more worthwhile and meaningful, even if it is a disagreement. Yes, I am feeling a bit inspired today. Not to worry, I am not going to get on the phone and start calling you all - trying to make a positive worthwhile connection with you. I am just letting you know that when we do talk again I am going to try and make it worth your time. It has just been something I have thought about and wanted to share with you.

Goodbye Summer

Hey Everybody!

I am writing this to let you know that Fleur has so graciously let the world see two more of her poems. She is a wonderful writer... Once you have read her stuff you will see what I mean!

I guess since I am here I may as well write a bit, this weekend is over. I accomplished most of what I set out to do, which was mainly nothing. After the weather failed to cooperate I didn't have a backup plan. Actually, my backup plan was to do nothing. It's hard to do sometimes...

Anyway, housework and chores were done. Studying was also accomplished. And plans for a future have been started. Maybe more on that later...

Well, I am never too concerned about the autumnal equinox (the time when the sun crosses the equator, as it proceeds southward)... The start of Fall! 22 September, but the start of fall for me always begins on Labor Day Weekend. Some people like fall, I am indifferent to the seasons. I am not indifferent to the weather! Fall ushers in all sorts of nasty, cold and bitter weather! Winter more or less just keeps it going until Spring rolls around and brings some relief. Summer is always the best to me. It's hot. It's supposed to be hot. I don't really care how hot it is either. I like it hot and humid, muggy is not too bad either. Not that dry heat you find in places I would rather not be. Deserts are known for the dry heat I am talking about. Anyway, I guess I am mourning the passing of summer... A moment of silence please...

Labor Day weekend

It's officially Labor day weekend. I hope everybody has planned to do something, even if it is just relax. I am going to be catching up on emails and voice mail this weekend. I have been sort of "off net" for a little bit. I hope the weather holds up this weekend. I am not planning on being in the apartment much. I know my son and I have talked alot about trying to decide what we are going to do this weekend. We are still undecided, but we are for sure going to eat something BBQ'd this weekend. We are also going to do a little shopping for my son's room. He wants to make it cool... I am going to get some reading done, and I am going to work on the website. I am beginning to make some changes. And as always, music. I am making headway, but still not quite where I want to be yet. We might even take a dip in a pool. Like I said, we are hoping the weather holds up. We want to do so much, but there is never enough time it seems. Well, I am off to bed! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day and we have to get an early rise!

New Month, New Post

I know it has been a few weeks since I published a blog entry, but it is not that I haven't been writing. Things have been a little hectic. Allow me to catch you all up...
I have been to a Prince concert, PTA meeting, travel for work, hung out with friends, made new ones, and have chatted at length a couple of times with a dear one. But the one thing that has been taking up most of my time has been homework of the first grade variety. Wow! Do you guys remember when I said I wouldn't want to be a kid again. This past month confirmed it once again for me. Those little people have so much stuff to do! My son has a really neat attitude about school and all the homework. I think it has a lot to do with he doesn't know any differently, but it doesn't seem to phase him one bit. I can't wait until we get to the part where, I come home and tell him to do his homework. I can't wait until he realizes that the responsibilities of school actually do weigh more heavily on him that it appears to at this point. Other than that, I think he is doing well, but there is always room for improvement. We are working on speeding him up quite a bit. He does good work, it just takes all day.

Well, I am feeling a little friendly pressure to get some music ready for ViceSounds.com So, I am going to get on that while I have a little awake time. Homework is done for the night. Fleur has sent in two more poems which are really good. They will soon be posted. Nikki Johnson has been doing some blogging, too. Her blog entries are always fun to read...

Once again I am starting off this month with thought of being a better blogger and the hope of posting something be it music or poem... Who knows?

Take care and enjoy the holiday!
