Well, folks, that's it, the first week of school is now behind us... For those of you who did not know, my son started school this past Monday. It was a big deal to us both but for slightly different reasons. He just started the first grade. He is no longer a toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener. He is a full-fledge school-ager! (I have never heard that term before until this past spring at his school). That means he has "all kinds of responsibilities" in his words. When I asked him what those responsibilities were, I received a slightly confused look then a very on-cue subject change about the fact that Sponge Bob has a movie coming out soon. I guess at this point he hasn't quite defined those responsibilities. That's fine, that's what I am here for! This ought to be fun... He seems to enjoy school, but, of course, that's easy to say being it's the first week of first grade. He hasn't had a chance to find something not to like yet. Hopefully, he will take a liking to school. That will make the next twelve years (possibly more) much, much easier.
This going to first grade is big deal to me as well. Yes, I am proud of my boy, very proud! So far he has done very well in all the schools he has attended. I trust that will most likely continue... hopefully! :) But, I am not ready to be in school again!!! Sure, I know they are still in that phase of school where they review all of the previous year's lessons to get the students back in the swing of things, but I miss those review classes because I am at work! Sure, I can add, and subtract (most of time). Yes, I remember most of the alphabet, at least all the most important letters, ok, the ones used to spell my name and the names of all my bill collectors! But, I know I am'a need ta work on me spellin' an' grammar, fo' sho'! Who would have thought I would have to repeat a grade, let alone all of them?
So, yes, going back to school is a big deal. He, of course, is getting the better end of deal. He now has wardrobe I am very envious of, save for this green shirt he insisted on having and I could probably do with out the superhero underwear! Plus, no matter how much I help him or how involved I get with him and his school work, I get no credit for doing the work. I know I could bust straight A's this time around if they would just let me turn in my spelling words...
Anyway, I am looking forward to a positive first grade year for us.
I would like to bring everyone's attention to Nikki's Blog! She has just joined the blogging community with her first post. As you might already know she is an awesome poet and she promises to add some more poetry in the very near future! (My personal favorite is "Until We Meet Again"). So, check out her blog and sign up for the email updates so that you will be notified when she blogs again!

I was just cruising the vicesounds.com website, yeah, I tend to do that from time to time. No where near as often as I should, but I go through and click the links, read, and listen to the tunes... Oh, I digress...
I was surfing the site and I noticed Miguel seems to be waking from his year long hibernation. I know for a fact when I last saw him he was neck deep in stuff. It seems as though things have been resolved from what he is saying on his Blog. Just for a refresher, you all need to go back re-read the beginnings of his novel. Hopefully soon we will get more to the story!

Hello people! Nikki Johnson has just informed me that as of now I am holding the number 1 and number 2 spots in the Jazz Genre on http://audiostreet.net! Needless to say that is pretty cool. The songs are "Whisper" and "You, You and Me". I appreciate all the people who have clicked there and took the time to listen to the music! I am pretty proud of this... For those that don't know, the rankings are determined based on how many times people have clicked your music. It equates to people calling in on the radio and requesting your song, basically.
Well, if you haven't heard the music then go ahead on over to http://audiostreet.net/vicesounds and play the music. You just might like it!
Thanks a bunch!

I didn't realize the picture was going to be so big when I uploaded it... I could change it, but, then you guys wouldn't be able to see things good.
Anyway, it was nice to get away from the city for awhile. I have spent the last two weekends away from the city... Last weekend I took my son to Rapid City, SD to stay with my parents for a few weeks. It was nice visiting with Mom and Dad, but I sure do miss my boy! While I was there I saw some people who knew me when I had some really messed up haircuts. You know the friends who have been your friends since before forever. Being in their company was almost just like old times - Well, ok, we were all a lot younger and more agile, but everyone looked well. Of course, everyone had gone through some changes. Some were more monumental than others, but all were positive. Some even a little inspiring. I am just glad that I got another chance to see them. I promise to do better at keeping in touch...
The summer is way to short people, make sure you take at least a day or two to get away from all that stresses you...
Take Care,
